Depression, fear, and anxiety are some of the most common and uncomfortable emotions that we can experience. Through counseling and treatment, we can work together to find your motivation, spark, perspective, and the joy that you seek in life, building a toolkit of coping skills to maintain a realistic and positive outlook on life, despite the challenges that will continue to arise around us.
I am enough. Right now, just as I am. Being able to say this, with or without conviction is a first step towards finding true self-confidence and returning to trusting self. Nurturing the inner voice and the consciousness which sees ourselves realistically, as we truly are, without the drone of that nagging critical voice or the pressures of outside influencers such as media.
Letting go of the curse of comparison and learning to love oneself for the complex, dynamic, person we each are, is sometimes difficult in a material and image driven society. Counseling is a portal to experiencing the world and yourself differently over time. Disconnecting worthiness from body weight/image allows unimaginable freedom to enjoy your life, just as you are right now. As Brene Brown writes in her book, The
Gifts of Imperfection:
"When we can allow that we are perfectly imperfect we can begin to unravel the mindsets which keep us from relaxing, from being constantly on guard around others, afraid to be 'found out' as a fraud. When we embrace our imperfections we are free to be our authentic, quirky, lovable selves and live into the full spectrum of our strengths and ability."
Disconnection from self can have many origin stories, but is often a byproduct of letting the care of ourselves fall to the end of the laundry list of life's to do's. When we take time for self-refection we can tap into our core values and beliefs and within that space, more easily align not only to ourselves but to those we care and love. Taking time to re-connect to ourselves creates the groundwork for cultivating self-acceptance, radical self-love and the rise of resiliency.
Creating Space for Gratitude and Reflection
Remembering our struggles, as well as moments of peace, with gratitude is a step towards mindfulness and peace. Willingness to reflect on our imperfect lives and selves with gratitude and grace, kindness and appreciation is key to living our best lives and cultivating compassion, starting within ourselves.
We live in an age of overwhelm, where as women we are told more is more and doing less is never best. Feeling chronically overwhelmed can lead to issues with mental and physical health. Together, we can work to identify self-care techniques to help you nourish body, mind and spirit ; create a plan to regain balance; and make time for yourself in the midst of a busy life.
At any point in our lives, we may find ourselves stuck in a rut: Whether it is a relationship that no longer serves us, a mindset that is holding us back, feeling burnt out in a care-giver roll or career, negative self-beliefs or a job that feels overwhelming. Working together, we can identify what's going right as well as areas of growth and change. Together, we will create a step by step plan to help you move from survival mode to thriving.
Death of a loved one, diagnosis with a life limiting illness, or loss of a relationship can put us into a tail spin, bringing years of unprocessed fears and unresolved emotions to the surface. Life after loss is a tricky space to navigate: It can take a toll on our self esteem, feelings of worth, and mental health. I can offer a supportive, non-judgmental space in which to process and help you transition from grief and loss to resilience.
